LEAVING: Meet at Calvary Chapel Wilmington on Thursday, April 25th at 2:30pm (we will stop for dinner on the way).

ARRIVING: Late Saturday Night on April 27th, probably around midnight or later.

REQUIREMENTS: Love Jesus and have a heart to serve others. We encourage that if you would like to go that you should/will be serving in some type of capacity within your home Church and participate in local outreaches within our community.

WHAT WE’RE DOING: There are currently over 21,000 homeless in Atlanta alone and only 3000 beds that are available and shelters are closing down daily due to lack of funds. Every day we will go under the bridges of Atlanta and into The Bluff (Atlanta’s largest crack cocaine district) to minister to the homeless and the lost. We’ll hand out lunches and pray with each person we touch and then we give them a HUG. Whether they’re living under a bridge or an abandoned home or crack apartment, the need is the same: Jesus. We will return back to the Garden each evening where we will have opportunities to minister to the 105 women and children residing at 7 bridges.

COST: Approximately $30 for your driver (if carpooling) for gas and 2 meals plus snacks, approximately $20.

WHAT TO BRING:

➔     Bible

➔     Notepad & pen

➔     Sleeping bag, pillow (sleeping mat, blow up bed if desired)

➔     Basic toiletries (including body wipes)

➔     Refillable water bottle

➔     Two changes of clothing

➔     Closed toe shoes – this is a firm requirement by Seven Bridges

➔     Sunscreen and snacks if desired

➔     Cash for snacks and dinners

TRAVEL:  We will be carpooling together in our own vehicles, volunteers needed!  We hope to travel in as few cars as possible so we can enjoy fellowship during the trip as well as limit the  number of vehicles used during our daily ministry.

ACCOMMODATIONS: We will be sleeping together in the Seven Bridges sanctuary.  Sleeping in a large group can obviously be somewhat loud so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. We will be sleeping on the ground.

We will have access to showers at designated times but, in general, facilities are limited.

DAILY ROUTINE:

★     Prepare and pack lunches to take out.

★     Prayer circle (This includes meeting the Seven Bridges representatives who will  accompany us to our assigned location).

★     Load up & Convoy to either The Bluffs (heroin district neighborhoods) or The Bridges  (under which homeless live).

★     Love on, pray with, share the Gospel and feed those in need, including playtime with any children present.

★     Finish up and head back to Seven Bridges for a quick debrief.

PLEASE NOTE: There are opportunities for fellowship and ministry at the Seven Bridges facility  during the day for those with smaller children. Every moment is opportunity to serve and make an impact on a person's life, whether young or old!

PRACTICAL TIPS:

❏     Pack as light as possible.

❏     Everything in a large backpack size is recommended.

❏     Make sure shoes are comfortable.

❏     Dress simply and comfortably.

❏     Leave jewelry at home.

❏     Be ready to pray at any time.
