Our Pastor
Nick Kahl
Pastor Nick has always been "amazed by the fact that God's Word could be presented and explained to people." Once his own relationship with Jesus began in 2005, the strong call to teach the Bible to others also began. Nick attended Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta, CA from 2005-2006. While at Bible College, Nick was introduced to Jessie. They began a relationship and were married in September 2007. Pastor Nick and Jessie spent their first year of marriage serving at a local church in Rochester, NY.
Nick also received a Certificate in Apologetics from the University of Biola through a distant learning program.
In 2009, Pastor Nick and Jessie took a step of faith and accepted an offer to serve at the International Calvary Chapel Bible College in Siegen, Germany. Pastor Nick taught the Apologetics program at the Bible College. After two years at the Bible College, Pastor Nick received an offer to lead and pastor a Calvary Chapel in Elizabeth City, NC. In 2010, Nick accepted the offer and he and Jessie moved from Germany to North Carolina. After 8 years in Elizabeth City, NC, Pastor Nick received another offer to lead and pastor a Calvary Chapel in Wilmington, NC. After much prayer and consideration, Pastor Nick accepted the offer. Currently Pastor Nick and his family live in Wilmington, NC.

Pastor Nick credits his mentor David Guzik with a strong "willingness to invest in my life and ministry." He admires Billy Graham, Damian Kyle, and David Guzik "for their biblical teaching and their boldness to stand firm for the non-negotiable doctrines of the Christian faith."
Now in Wilmington, Pastor Nick longs to see more people "come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior." At Calvary Chapel Wilmington, he believes that people can find "a church that focuses less on religion and more on a relationship with Jesus, less on hype and more on teaching God's Word, and less on ourselves and more on the community."
When he is not teaching, preaching, or studying, this Carolina Beach native enjoys surfing, jiujitsu, carpentry, grilling, gardening, running, and spending time with his wife, Jessie and their 3 children.
Pastor Nick's teaching ministry is called, “The Living Truth.” He is currently writing a commentary on Proverbs. His favorite quote is by Albert Mohler, who said, “Only Expository Preaching will produce the kind of Christian that can firmly stand in the culture we live in.”
Pastor Nick's journey might be summed up with the words from the prophet Habakkuk: "Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told" (1:5). Pastor Nick looks back with wonder and astonishment at the work God has done already, and he looks ahead with faith at the work God will continue to do in Wilmington.
