There is a lot of talk these days about "passionate worship", "contemporary worship", even "relevant worship". There is even talk of "prophetic worship".
It is possible that we have lost our way with regards to the purpose of worship, and it shows as we try to describe how we worship.
Worship is not for us, it is for God - directed from us... to God.

Worship is not singing some songs in the service. It is an expression of our adoration and love for our God, the Living God.
So we believe that how we worship should not be our focus, but rather that we simply worship the Lord God in Spirit in in Truth.
We don't have to worship to music, we can worship anywhere, anytime, lifting up our hearts to the Lord.

But, we praise God that He has given us music, a powerful medium that touches the heart and the soul.
And when we add the Spirit of God, that resides in every believer, we now have a medium of communication with our Heavenly Father that surpasses what words alone can accomplish. |
At Calvary Chapel our worship music does have a more contemporary edge. It may move from the soft acoustic, to the intense, with electric guitar driving crescendo.
There are a variety of musicians in our fellowship, and we simply seek to worship the Lord with the musical gifts He has given us.
