We’re Stronger After The Testing – Luke 4:14
Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee… (Luke 4:14)
Have you ever considered the fact that fulfilling the call of God the Father was at times difficult for Jesus?
It’s easy to think that Jesus, being the Son of God, easily walked through every trial, every situation, every testing, as if He were floating on a cloud of grace. After all, He’s Jesus, right?
But we have to consider the fact that Jesus was not only fully God, He was (and is) fully man. Just like we experience difficult times in life, Jesus also experienced difficult times.
The night of His betrayal in the garden of Gethsemene comes to mind, when He was in such agony that His sweat became like drops of blood as they fell to the ground (Luke 22:44).
The point I’m getting to is that His time of temptation in the wilderness probably wasn’t a walk in the park. And yet after Jesus came through that time of testing, He emerged stronger; “Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee.”
In other words, Jesus became stronger after His testing. That’s why Jesus didn’t run from the trials, because He knew they served a purpose in His life. Yes they were difficult, but they were necessary.
Jesus explained to the two disciples whom He met on the road to Emaaus, “Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” (Luke 24:26)
So Christian, the next time a trial comes into your life, take comfort in the fact that even though the trial may be difficult, you will be stronger after the testing.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. (James 1:2-3)
We can change the world, one life at a time…
