The Man God Uses – A Future Heritage
This Sunday I’ll be teaching a message aimed at Fathers, and as a run-up to that message I’ll be sharing some of the aspects of being a man of God – The Man God Uses.
(Ladies, don’t feel left out… these principles are relevant to you as well!)
I believe one of the most important things that a man of God can possess is a “future kingdom” perspective.
See, the reality is that unless Christ returns in my life, I will leave this earth one day. And the only thing that will remain of my life will be the people on the next generation that I have invested in – they will carry forward the mission of God into the world.
Hear the words of King David to his son Solomon:
Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many. I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble. Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life. Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil. Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on. (Proverbs 4:10-15)
This describes a father who is being intentional about passing on wisdom, building godly character, and teaching his son to reject the lies and temptations of the world.
Regardless of whether its a son, a daughter, or a younger Christian man, the man God uses sees the importance of passing on the mission of the kingdom to the next generation – and he’s willing to be intention about passing on that mission.
So I would ask you: Who are you investing in? Regardless of where you are in your walk with Christ, there is someone who’s a little behind where you are, and you can share your experience, strength, and hope with that person.
And it won’t happen by accident. Make a decision to be intentional about impacting the future for the kingdom of God.
We can change the world,
We can change the world, one life at a time…
