Calvary Chapel Wilmington Volunteer Ministry Guide

At Calvary Chapel, we believe that it is a natural response to being a part of a church family to serve in the fellowship! Jesus modeled servant-hood consistently, such as when He washed the disciples’ feet. Paul reminded us that the church is one body made from many parts, so each of us has a place of service in the body of Christ.

So, we encourage you to come and find your place in the body!  Below is a guide to help you get started! (click on the bolded words to open the documents!)

Equipping the Servants:

1. First things first: You must be saved and water baptized!
2. Are You at Home at CCW?  Do you consider Calvary Chapel Wilmington your church home, and attend on a weekly basis for at least six months?
3. Are we Like Minded?
   1. You have read, and are you in agreement with Calvary Chapel's Statement of Faith.
   2. Read The Philosophy of Ministry of Calvary Chapel booklet by Pastor Chuck Smith.
   3. Read What Calvary Chapel Teaches booklet.
   4. Read the Calvary Chapel Distinctives book by Pastor Chuck Smith. (*All of the above readings are also available at the church info desk, or the church office)
4. Do the Paperwork:  Complete a Servant Information Sheet, and submit it to the church office. (also available in the church foyer)
   1. For service in the Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry, please see the Volunteer Guide - Teacher
5. Find out what the needs are:  Stop by the INFO DESK in the lobby, or speak to a pastor or ministry leader to see what the current needs for volunteers are.
6. After we have reviewed your application, you will be contacted by one of our staff or ministry leaders.  Following an interview, you may serve for a 60-day confirmation period.
7. Continue to Grow:  While you serve, we ask that you either attend the Foundations of the Faith 101 class, or complete the workbook, within six months. (also available through your ministry leader)

At Calvary Chapel, we desire to assist God's people in their personal spiritual development, and our "Equipping the Servants" resoureces are designed to help you to grow in the Lord as you serve! We believe you will find that these resources will help you grow in your faith and maturity, and will prepare you for your role in God's Kingdom!

Please note , we desire to maintain a safe enviroment for our children and youth. For this reason, wo hope you understand why we ask questions about your background, and also note that we will conduct criminal background checks on ALL who seek to serve in areas involving children or youth.
