The Next Step for Calvary Chapel – An update from Pastor Clay
The Next Step for our church…
As you may have heard by now, Calvary Chapel of Wilmington is entering into a season of change.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, our future at this location is at best uncertain. To make a long story short, the property owners of our building are being forced by New Hanover county to put the property up for sale to satisfy claims against the family estate.
Our Elders and Board of Directors have been meeting, and praying, and at this point we feel certain about a few things:
- We do not feel the Lord is leading us to purchase this property.
- We sense the Lord leading us to search for a new meeting location.
- We are to pray and seek the Lord for direction on where we should move to.
- Additionally, we feel strongly that the Lord is leading us to prayerfully seek Him, and to be open to what He wants for our church.
That’s why we’re looping you in, so that you can be a part of the prayer, and part of the decision process. We believe that if we will come together and seek the face of the Lord, He will give us wisdom and direction (James 1:5), and we will be in one accord.
So with that in mind, we are taking the following steps:
We’re going to start our Sunday morning prayer earlier, at 9 AM, starting Sunday July 24. It will still be in the sanctuary, and we’ll be praying for our nation, our church, as well as the service!
We’re also designating monthly times of prayer for the future direction of Calvary Chapel Wilmington. The dates are:
Monday July 25, 7 PM
Monday August 15, 7 PM
Monday September 19, 7 PM
Monday October 17, 7 PM
Monday November 21, 7 PM
Monday December 19, 7 PM
2 Town Hall Meetings
We’ll be holding several “Town Hall” meetings with the congregation to hear your input, answer any questions you may have, and keep you updated on the progress.
The first town hall meeting will be on Sunday, July 24th, immediately following the service. I would encourage you all to attend that meeting.
Lastly, my encouragement to you is this; Be patient, trust the Lord, and trust your leadership.
Yes there will be changes. But I believe the Lord is leading us out of our comfort zone, and into a new season of ministry… and I believe that it will be a good and fruitful season of ministry!
One thing I know for sure, God is moving in a new and unique way in our church, and personally I’m excited to see what He will do over the course of the next year!
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
