Lord, if you will…
“Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” (Luke 5:12-13)
I can see the scene in my mind – a man suffering from leprosy, a slow and terrible death. Sores, skin rotting off the bone, missing toes and fingers. The man approaches Jesus, and the crowd backs away, not wanting any contact with this pitiful creature. The man has come to Jesus as a last resort. There is no other hope for him. “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean,” to which Jesus replies, “I will; be clean.”
What a beautiful picture of what Jesus continues to do today; restoring hopeless lives. No matter how wretched or broken, no matter how great the sin of the past, any man or woman can bring their broken life to Jesus, and He will restore.
All that is needed is a believing heart… “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.”
And my friend, the answer is always, “I will; be clean.”
We can change the world, one life at a time…
