Isaiah 61:10 – The Cure For The Down Days.
Down days – everyone has them. Those days where you feel that the world is against you, when nothing is going right… when you want to get a sharpie and write “FAIL” across your forehead! On days like that we need something to pick us up, something to restore our joy and our hope – and Isaiah 61:10 is just what the doctor ordered!
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. (Isaiah 61:10)
Saints, even on our worst day, it should be a great help and encouragement to be reminded that God has clothed us, His people, in the garment’s of salvation. Like a warm coat on a cold winter day, God wraps us in His warmth of salvation. He has taken the righteousness of His Son, Jesus Christ, and created a robe of beauty and holiness – and draped it upon our shoulders.
I think of the Apostle Paul, under house arrest, under the threat of death by the Jewish religious leaders, yet what does Paul encourage the church?
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! (Phil 4:4)
When we understand what our present reality is in Christ, and our future hope is in heaven, how can we not rejoice?
We can change the world, one life at a time…
