Isaiah 60:14-15 Bury the Hatchet
Several months ago our Secretary of State, John Kerry, attempted to restart the so-called “peace talks” between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Yet as has happened so many time before, the effort fell to the ground. Nothing. It seems that the animosity is too great between Israel and the PA.
It causes one to wonder; Will there ever be peace in the Middle East? According to Isaiah, there will:
Also the sons of those who afflicted you shall come bowing to you, and all those who despised you shall fall prostrate at the soles of your feet; And they shall call you The City of the Lord, Zion of the Holy One of Israel. “Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no one went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, a joy of many generations.” (Isaiah 60:14-15)
This peace that Isaiah describes will not come as a result of diplomacy – it will come when the Lord Jesus Christ returns, and the entire world, including Israel and the Arab-Muslim states see Christ for who He really is – the Messiah!
When the world witnesses the power, the majesty, the beauty, and the holiness of the Lord Jesus, all disputes will suddenly become irrelevant. Past hostilities will become moot. Men will lay down their weapons, and worship the true and living God!
But did you know what will be true then can be true now? The gospel message of Jesus Christ working in a person’s life changes everything. When a person comes to Christ, old rivalries seem pointless, past grudges can be forgiven, love is the new law of the day.
So Christian, if there’s someone in your life that torments you, that seems to have it out for you, instead of bracing for a fight, why not try praying for salvation? When that person invites Christ into their lives, they become a new creation in Christ (2 Cor 5:17), all things become new (Rev 21:5), and you will have gained a brother or sister in the family of God (Eph 2:19) – you can finally bury the hatchet.
