He Speaks! Luke 1:64
And immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed… (Luke 1:64a)
Last Sunday I made a point about the fact that when Zechariah didn’t believe the angel about the birth of his son, John the Baptist, he was struck mute until the prophecy was fulfilled (Luke 1:18-20).
The point was that when we receive something from the Lord, whether it’s by His word, or by the Holy Spirit, if we will believe it, we can declare it.
If we don’t believe, then we’re silent. We’ll never declare what God is going to do if we don’t believe it. Whatever God speaks will come to pass, it’ll just come to pass without out involvement.
So when God speaks, either by His word, or the Holy Spirit, we need to remember what Gabriel said: “For no word from God shall be void of power.” God’s word will come to pass.
Well sure enough, once John was born, and he was named “John,” Zechariah’s tongue was loosed! And what was the first thing Zech did? He praised God!
“…and he spoke, blessing God.” (Luke 1:64b)
This tells us something important about God; He gives second chances!
Just because we blow it once doesn’t mean God is done with us. He’ll always give us another chance to believe.
And when He does – SPEAK!
We can change the world, one life at a time…
