Find a Calvary

Often when we tell people we are "Calvary Chapel", the next question is "so, what do you believe?".  We have a page that gives our Statement of Faith, but in case you wanted a fuller picture, we have put together this page as well.

Our purpose at Calvary Chapel is to provide a place for people to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Calvary Chapels are known for their dedication to the expositional (verse-by-verse) teaching of God’s Word. Simply put, we teach the bible from Genesis to Revelation! Typically we will teach from the New Testament on Sundays, and the Old Testament on Wednesday evenings.

At Calvary Chapel, we believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and we encourage their exercise, but always decently and in order, with the primary emphasis on the Word of God, which we look to as our primary rule of faith.
Our worship setting and style is contemporary, but not to exclude the more traditional style of worship which we believe to be rich in doctrine and sound theology. Worship at each Calvary Chapel is unique, and there is no “set” style of worship. Typically our worship time will be about thirty minutes prior to the teaching of the Word.

Some Calvary’s are filled with people in suits and ties, and some are filled with people in jeans and t-shirts, and many may have a combination of all ages, races, and dress.

We are people who have come together regardless of background or social status with one common focus: Love for Jesus Christ and the desire to know Him more intimately.

We focus on personal relationships with Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, teaching of the word, and communion (Acts 2:42).

At Calvary Chapel, we do not "pass the offering plate" during the service, as we have found that this can be a distraction. We have located offering boxes at the rear of the sanctuary where you may place your offering.

We believe that it is a blessing for you to share in the work of the Lord through your financial giving, and that it is the Christian's responsibility to tithe to their local church. We also believe in strict accountability of all resources that are provided to the church through God's people, and we are committed to a high level of integrity and accountability with regards to church finances. All CCW budgets and spending is reviewed by our Financial Oversight Comittee.

We do not have process of "church membership” at Calvary Chapel. We believe that every true born-again-believer has the Holy Spirit living and active in their lives, and it is the presence of the Holy Spirit that places you in the body of Christ. We believe this makes us all members of the body of Christ.

It is our prayer that God would lead you to a body of believers with whom you can begin to worship, fellowship, and serve the Lord.

As Pastor, I would like to welcome you to Calvary Chapel of Wilmington, and I am looking forward to serving the Lord with you as we wait for the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ.
